YOU’RE INVITED TO CULTURE-SHAPING MOMENTS

Two young fish were swimming along when they met an older fish. The older fish smiled and said, “How’s the water, fellas?”

The younger fish swam on for a bit, then one turned to the other and asked, “What’s water?”

That little story reminds us how culture works, it surrounds us, influences us, and shapes us, often without us noticing it.

Culture can be described as:

  • The social glue that holds people together
  • “The way we do things around here”
  • Deeply held beliefs and assumptions
  • The unwritten rules

Some of those descriptions sound positive, others more negative. The truth is, culture can either be a guide that protects and encourages us or something that subtly pulls us off course.

At Indian Rocks Christian School, we care deeply about our culture. “Culture” comes from the Latin word cultus, which means to care. And we care because culture shapes our students, staff, and families.

Our school’s culture is built on three core values:

  1. Biblically-Based – God’s Word is the foundation of everything we do.
  2. Building Community – We grow better together.
  3. Best-Effort Excellence – We give our best because God deserves our best.

We have set aside key moments throughout the school year that help shape and strengthen our culture. These moments declare:

  • This is real
  • We’re in this together
  • This is worth the effort

We would love for you—parents and grandparents—to be part of these special moments. Your presence helps affirm what matters most. Here are the big ones to mark on your calendar:

Convocation

This is our community-wide launch into the school year. We gather to dedicate the journey to the Lord and remind ourselves why we do what we do.

Homecoming

A joyful celebration of our past, present, and future. It reminds us that we are part of something bigger than ourselves.

Thanksgiving Praise Service

This is a heartfelt time of worship and gratitude. Together, we thank God for His faithfulness to our school.

Graduations

This is a culminating moment to honor our students as we launch them into the world with sound minds, servant hearts, and skilled hands, prepared to follow God’s call wherever it leads.

These are more than events; they are culture-shaping moments, and your involvement makes them even more meaningful.
