Athletics

Athletic competition for Indian Rocks Christian School middle school and high school students is a vital part of their all-around educational experience. Indian Rocks Christian School endeavors to provide the best facilities, high quality instruction and a nurturing environment for life lessons through our athletic department. We sponsor over 35 teams in 14 sports with a staff of highly qualified and experienced coaches.

Since 1984, the program has grown and developed into one of the top programs in the Pinellas county, if not the state of Florida.  While winning is not everything, we work to compete at the highest level possible within the scope of the rules of the FHSAA and the spirit of the game.  IRCS coaches and athletes are always striving to keep the right perspective in good sportsmanship, Christ-like attitudes and a servant spirit.

Participation in athletics and other activities is governed by the FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) of which Indian Rocks Christian School is a member.

What Our Students Say

“I started IRCS soccer in 6th grade, and this was my 3rd year. I also got pulled up my 8th grade year to varsity. I am also on the cross country and track team. One of my favorite things about all three of the sports I play is that my faith has grown stronger each and every year. A big part of my testimony is that during cross country I have learned so much more about God, and He has given me strength and power. God has worked through my life with all of my sports. My cross country coach, Coach LaBrant, is the best running coach you could possibly have. Not only does he help you improve, but he helps grow your faith in GOD.” – Ella Tessitore, Class of 2027

One of our main goals is to help our student-athletes become leaders both on and off of the field. With that in mind, each of our teams focuses on leadership and discipleship.

General Athletic Questions

School sports start in 6th Grade; however, thanks to Indian Rocks Baptist Church, our younger students have easy access to the church’s recreation league.

The EL2 and EL3 are required for students in grades 6 through 12. Homeschoolers, international students, and transfer students are required to fill out additional forms: FHSAA Homeschool Registration, EL7, FAQ, and EL9.

Yes. Our Strength and Conditioning Coach, Ben O’Donnell, helps students with sports-specific strength training, power, and agility while also focusing on mobility and injury prevention.

We have a website dedicated to sharing all of our Eagles news. You’ll find tickets, stories, and more there.

Our Athletic Complex, which is called The Eagles Nest, features a football/soccer field, quarter-mile track, baseball field, softball field, four beach volleyball courts, and a turf practice field.

Other teams practice and compete at:

Bowling: Liberty Lanes
Golf: Largo Municipal Golf Course
Tennis & Swim: Southwest Recreation Complex

We shuttle students to off-site practices. However, parents must pick them up from the off-site location.

Athletic Opportunities

Athletic Opportunities

It is our desire to provide our student-athletes with multiple opportunities to represent their school in competition. Our commitment to athletics is reflected in our diverse offerings (42 teams spread across the MS, JV, & Varsity levels), widespread participation (over 80 percent of our students grades 6-12 participate in at least one sport each year), and level of success in competition. Student-athletes are supported by a strong group of athletic professionals that includes 50 coaches with varied experience on the high school, collegiate and professional levels, a Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer, and direct access to doctors at the Florida Orthopedic Institute. We have also have a strength and conditioning program to help our athlete’s progress towards their full athletic potential. We integrate our intramural, middle school and varsity sports programs.
